In 2022, the net premiums written by property and casualty insurance in Canada amounted to approximately 68 billion Canadian dollars. Despite the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, in 2020, premiums rose by nearly six billion Canadian dollars compared to the previous year, and over five times higher than the 13.3 billion Canadian dollars recorded for 1990.
